NLM Assessment

The Narrative Language Measures assessment (NLM) is a curriculum-based measurement tool. It is a standardized, reliable, and valid assessment developed by Drs. Douglas Petersen and Trina Spencer (2023) to assess children’s oral language skills and ability to comprehend and produce complex academic language. The assessment is available in English and Spanish and includes visual aids for preschoolers.

Upon completion of this training, you will be able to:

1. Plan assessment timing
2. Recognize materials needed for each age group
3. Identify questions and answers used in the NLM Assessment
4. Administer the NLM Assessment
5. Record assessment results in REDCap
